October Favourites

Hello lovelies,

Now I know this is a bit late but I was at home last week and although I thought I would have time to blog, I just didn't. It really hit me just how much I miss being at home, being able to understand what's going on the majority of the time and seeing all my friends and family but heyho...I'll be back at Christmas!

I picked this up several months ago and it seems to be discontinued in the UK now but it's available in the USA. I tend to lean toward alcohol free toners and this has really helped to keep my skin clear and calm. It's a lovely toner that doesn't strip the skin but removes all traces of dirt. I still have a couple of bottles left... don't know what I'll do when I run out!

I've only got a 15ml sample size but I have really enjoyed using this and it would definitely be something that I would consider repurchasing. This product claims to reduce shine and balance combination skin and as you all know, mt T-Zone can get very oily throughout the day when wearing makeup. I find that I don't have to worry about my skin getting oily and it really calms my skin down. Ren is a brand that I'm definitely going to explore more.

I only picked this up as I had a half price voucher from the Boots machine and looking at the shade in the bullet, I wouldn't have gone anywhere near it. Bon Bon is a nude pinky brown shade which I really love. This lippie applies semi-sheer but it's easily buildable, it's not quite as glossy as the Mirror Shine range but the colour is more pigmented. I found this lasted about 4 hours before needing reapplying but wore well. What really draws me to this range is that my lips can get quite dry, especially during the Winter months and these are so moisturising.

I remember there being a huge amount of hype when these were released and I never really got it. But now I do. I love the way Revlon have matched up a dark base coat with an iridescent holographic top coat, they make a perfect pairing for Autumn. I will be doing a NOTD post at some point to show you the true effect.

Review: Seventeen Supreme Shine Lipstick in Day Glo

Hello lovelies,

I think we all know what I love a bright lip colour, anything that is bold and vibrant which makes a statement. Some people prefer a bright eye colour but I would choose a lip colour every time. I'm a huge lover of the Seventeen Mirror Shine Lipsticks so when I picked this up, I had high expectations.

I adore the packaging, the silver is very sleek and weighty, making them appear a lot more expensive than what they actually are. Seventeen Supreme Shine Lipsticks are available in 12 shades and obviously, I gravitated toward the bright end of the spectrum. The swatches on the Boots website aren't very realistic of the actual colours so I would say, if you can, nip into store and check the colours out.

Day Glo is definitely a bright summer shade which adds a pop of colour that instantly brightens the face. It's a bright blue based, pink lipstick that makes your teeth look whiter (added bonus!). Seventeen Supreme Shine Lipsticks aren't as glossy as the Mirror Shine Lipsticks but have a gorgeous sheer application and are so shiny. It feels slightly waxy on application but applies pretty smoothly and lasts well. You could wear this sheer or build it up to a more opaque colour.

I find this such a flattering colour that most skin tones would be able to pull off. My lips were left nicely moisturised, I find some lipsticks just dry my lips out but this lasts around about 4 hours before I after to reapply and it wears off evenly leaving more of a stain effect.

The Seventeen Supreme Shine Lipsticks are definitely a good everyday budget lippie.
They can be found at Boots for £4.99.

What do you think to this colour?

Tag: How Much is My Face Worth?

Hello lovelies,

So I've seen this tag floating around the bloggersphere and decided to do it myself. This is where you add up all the products that you have used on your face for that day. Obviously, you're not using all the product up in one go but it is just the overall cost of your face. I've decided to leave out my skincare routine and just get straight into the make up.

Face

Brushes
Japonesque Travel Powder Brush (No longer available) - £30.00
Real Techniques Buffing Brush  (Part of the Core Collection)- £20.99

Eyes

Lips

Total - £119.70

That's shocking!
I think the cost of the brushes plays a huge part in that amount. Seeing that amount isn't going to make me change what I buy, I love everything that I use and it does make me feel better about myself. Some of the products have been picked up on offers and it's not like I've spent all that at once. This sounds increasingly like I'm trying to justify it to myself?

Review: Seventeen Trio Eye Shadows

Hello lovelies,

Now I don't really do eye shadow at all, I just get it wrong and end up looking like the glitter fairy has had a party on my eyelids. I look at people who manage to do amazing smokey eyes and who just have the knack of getting it right, where I do not. It doesn't help that I'm pretty much as blind as a bat and trying to apply something to your eyelid with minimum vision is never going to end up being a masterpiece.

However, I received a voucher through the post from Boots for being an Advantage Card holder, which allowed me to pick up one of these sparkly beauties for £1 which is pretty darn good considering the usual price tag is £5.49. After having a good play round, I opted for the trio of "Metallic Toffee" which is a selection of neutral shades. I have blue eyes and golden shades are meant to bring out your eyes supposedly,  the trio is made up of a dark brown, a light gold and a iridescent white. The trios are designed so that the colours all work together.

I have to be honest and say that I wasn't expecting anything much from the trio in terms of pigmentation and staying power. I've used the odd Seventeen product in the past and thought yeah it's alright, that's what I expected. However, this surprised me, from the photos, you can see that the shadows are heavily pigmented and when I applied them to my eyelid, they went on smoothly with little fall-out.

All the shades work really well together. I tend to do a golden smokey eye using the gold as a base, the brown in the upper corner to create some depth. The white works brilliantly on the inner corner as a highlighter opening up the eyes. Using a primer, this trio will last all day.

As for the packaging, it's simple, small and sturdy. It's easy to open and compact enough to pop into a makeup bag whilst giving you a choice of colours.

Without the voucher, I probably would have completely bypassed this. The trio is great for everyday wear but you could use it to create a golden sophisticated smokey eye evening look too. I've got my eye on the "Vengence" trio which appears to be a mixture of copper tones and would look great with green eyes.

Seventeen Trio Eye Shadows are available from Boots for £5.49 and the whole range is currently on buy one get one half price, the perfect time to stock up!

Have any of the trios took your eye?
