Empties #3

Ah, the end of August is upon us and with it the end of all hope of summer... it has been a particularly poor show this year England. The only bit of sunshine I've seen was back in June over in Bulgaria. This morning I woke up to grey skies and that annoying drizzle, either chuck it down or stop. August hasn't been too bad and I even managed to finish a few beauty products that are now destined for the bin!

A bunch of rubbish is never going to photograph beautifully!

Ingredients Sicilian Lime & Bergamot Body Butter
I really enjoyed using this body butter; it had a lovely refreshing fresh scent, absorbed nicely and left my skin feeling soft.
Verdict - Unfortunately this is really old and M&S don't even make the line anymore. I tend to use The Body Shop's butters these days, if it were still available and I was in need of a new body butter, I wouldn't bypass it.

I used to love this foundation and reached for it on a daily basis. But you know the blogging world is fickle and when new products came out, this got cast aside. This foundation has great coverage, a matte finish and I found that I only needed to powder a couple of times a day when using this.
Verdict - I might buy again, at the moment I'm in love with my Maybelline foundation and can't see anything replacing it for a long time. It's a reasonably priced product and ideal for anyone who is just venturing into makeup,

As they say the proof is in the pudding and I did a full review across here. This illuminates my eye bags and makes me look vaguely alive first thing in the morning.
Verdict - This is a regular in my makeup bag, I would buy it again. Although when it runs out, there's a couple of other concealers I want to try out.

Simple Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner - normally £3.29, currently on offer for £1.64
I'm not fussy when it comes to toners, I tend to pick a toner that's alcohol free otherwise they can dry out my skin. This does exactly what it says on the bottle; it freshens, cleanses and soothes without being harsh.
Verdict - I have bought again and have a couple of back up bottles in my stash.

For anyone who has ever struggled with liquid eyeliner, this is really easy to apply. It's an intense black and lasts all day without fading or smudging. It dries instantly but is equally easy to remove at the end of the day.
Verdict - Whilst I do really like this product and it's very affordable, the L'Oreal eyeliners are currently finding their way into my makeup bag. If you're looking for an affordable good quality eyeliner then I wouldn't hesitate to pick this up.

What products did you use up this summer? Anything that wowed you?

Top 3 Blushes

A good blush gives a healthy-looking glow from-within, whereas a bad blush gives a streaky sparkly clown face. Blush is one of my favourite make-up items and if I don't pop some on my cheeks in the morning I get asked if I'm ill. These following three are the shades I tend to gravitate toward...

Poppy is such a gorgeous red toned blush, which really suits pale skin tones. It adds the warmth necessary without being too bright. Cream blushes are something I used to really struggle to work with, I use Poppy with the Real Techniques Stippling Brush, blending out any sharp colour. You can find a more in-depth review here

I reach for this on a daily basis, it is genuinely one of the best blushes I have found and such great value. This blush is fab, it gives a great flush of colour and lasts all day. I use the EcoTools Blush Brush to apply it which a good smooth coverage.

I absolutely hated this when I first tested it out, I couldn't get to grips with the application and found that I just ended up with a clown-like appearance. Whilst travelling I threw it in my bag to give it another go and it proved a hit. Rose Blossom is a bright matte Barbie pink colour and very pigmented. To apply, I draw an X on each cheek and then blend out with my fingers, whichcreates a lovely flushed glow.

What are your favourite blushes?

Boots Haul

On my way back from the gym this morning I nipped into Boots. Not that I needed anything, just out of lust for every single product in there. Not one to miss a bargain I headed to the reduced shelf and found myself a few bargains, the whole bag full came to £7!

I've heard so much about this moisturiser, when I lived in France I planned on trying it but never got round to picking up a tube. The price point has put me off up until now, it's not a product that I'll start using now. I plan on putting it away and whipping it out in the Winter when my skin is in need of a bit of TLC.

I'm not that fussy when it comes to hairspray, as long as it does the job and holds my hair in place without that crispiness then I'll be happy. Ojon is a brand that I've wanted to try for a while and if this is any good, I'll probably look into a few more of their products.

Soap & Glory Peaches & Cream Deep Cleansing Milk - £8.00
My beloved Body Shop Cucumber Cleanser has come to an end and I've started using a Ren cleanser which is just a bit too heavy for my skin currently. Back in't day, Khila from MissBudgetBeauty used to rave about this cleanser and I don't know why I've never picked up a bottle before now.

Soap & Glory Face Soap & Clarity Facial Wash - £8.00
I prefer a facial wash in the shower rather than a creamy cleanser and as this is advertised as being suitable for all skin types, I thought I would pick it up. Its got good reviews so I'm looking forward to using it.

Have you picked up any Boots bargains recently?

Sample Testing #1

Having a tidy up, I discovered a box full of samples. You know all those ones that you get free in magazines or the ones in hotels that you just can't bear to leave behind. Some are products that I just wouldn't have bothered to even look at but have been pleasantly surprised.

This is something that I would never have bought myself, I tend to pick up whatever shampoo is on offer in Boots for a couple of quid. Whilst on a birthday break in Liverpool, the hotel supplied all Ren products and as a lover of the Ren facemasks, I was pleased to try out some of their other products. This shampoo is very gentle and has a lovely fragrance, for me it's perfect for fine hair. It gently cleanses your hair and if I was looking to splash out on a shampoo, this would be on the list.

Now I know I haven't pictured this but I threw it in a bag and can't find the little vial but it's definitely worth a mention, I really struggled to find a UK stockist for this, there are a few floating around on Amazon but with very little stock. I love receiving little vials of perfume, I hate lugging round a bottle with the risk of breaking it. This just reminds me of summer days, it has quite a heavy coconut scent but with undertones of fig which strengthen the longer it lingers. I used it whilst on holiday in Bulgaria and it just reminds me of all the lovely days I had.

As much as I wanted to love this I just couldn't. I love the ethics of Balance Me as a company and this does a perfectly good job as a face wash but for me, it was the fragrance, Now I know that it is pretty much a natural product but it smells chemically. For something that I'm putting on my face daily, I want it to smell pleasant. I thought it was just me being overly fussy but I offered this sample to a friend to try when we were away and she said exactly the same thing.

What samples have you been trying out lately?

Feel Unique Sale Picks

Feel Unique is a go-to for any beauty addict, they've recently launched their 50% off sale and I found myself adding some incredible deals to my basket. A lot of the products/sets in this post are at 50% off or better which is such a fab deal!

Feel Unique Sale Picks

You must think I'm crazy buying a Christmas gift in the middle of summer but this is such a bargain! I'm buying a few and putting them away for Christmas (yes, I just mentioned the C word), they'll make great little stocking fillers. I really think Mavala are underrated as a brand, they're really good value and great quality.

I usually sway away from anything celebrity endorsed but I own a couple of the matte lipsticks and they're just as good as MAC. I reach for shade 111 on a night out, a gorgeous orange toned red and have received nothing but compliments. I might add a couple of these to my basket, I'd be interested to see the colour payoff from some of the lighter shades.

I'm a strong cucumber fan. I never thought I'd be saying that but I am. Both food wise and beauty wise. I've never tried anything from the Yes to... range before but these would be really handy to throw into my gym bag or for holidays. I tend to stray away from face wipes opting for a full cleanse but I would use this after a workout to freshen up.

I read about this collection when it first came out and decided then and there that I needed something from it but unfortunately my budget doesn't quite stretch to YSL prices. The Corail Incandes shade is such a pretty colour for both cheeks and lips, and I suppose for the price, you are getting two products in one,

Like I've already said, I'm not the greatest fan of 'celebrity' endorsed products but I'm intrigued. Tanya Burr and Zoe Sugg deserve so much credit for the brands that they've built up but is all the hype for their brands just because of who they are or are their products actually any good?

I've never known a product to have such a long name! I always want a lighter base during the summer months but something that offers equally a great coverage and lasts all day. I've read a few reviews of this and think it could be the perfect product. Sparkling in the name does scare me slightly, I want to look natural and radiant, not like a glitter ball.

Pureology Highlight Stylist Luminator: £7.54
WHH tends to shy away from haircare. Normally I slap on a bit of heat protectant and that's about as far as I go. Its got be thinking though that I should be trying out more haircare products and not just those you find on the shelf in Boots.
